Hairline cracks in plaster within the first 12 months are normal. Diagonal cracks at door or window corners, cracks in columns or beams, horizontal cracks on load-bearing walls, or any crack wider than 1mm appearing after year one are structural failures not normal settling.

Grade-40 rebar has a yield strength of 40,000 psi. Grade-60 has 60,000 psi. That is 50% stronger. When your structure is designed for Grade-60 and Grade-40 is used, every column and beam is understrengthed by 33%. Over 2 to 5 years especially in Pakistan's seismic zone this shows up as diagonal cracks in columns and at beam-column junctions. Labour suppliers substitute Grade-40 without telling the homeowner because it costs 10 to 15% less per kg.

Use the edge of a credit card (0.76mm thick) to gauge width. If the card edge does not fit in the crack, it is less than 0.76mm. A matchstick is about 1.5mm.

You have absolutely no legal recourse. No court in Pakistan will help you without a written contract. The labour supplier has no obligation to repair anything. You pay for all repairs yourself. This is the situation for the majority of informally built homes in Lahore.
You have some evidence but limited recourse. You can prove the contractor built the house, but without a warranty clause specifying defect liability, enforcing repairs is difficult and expensive legally. Better than nothing far less than adequate.
